BREAKING: USCIS Reaches FY2014 H-1B Cap In Less Than 5 Days

The USCIS H1B Cap announcement:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that it has received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to reach the statutory cap for fiscal year (FY) 2014. USCIS has also received more than 20,000 H-1B petitions filed on behalf of persons exempt from the cap under the advanced degree exemption. After today, USCIS will not accept H-1B petitions subject to the FY 2014 cap or the advanced degree exemption.

    David, do you conclude as I do from the startling figure you report here, that the tiny increases of low skilled “guest worker” and highly educated H-1B visas discussed by the Gang of 8 fall so far short of the inflow that unauthorized immigration will continue at essentially the same rate after reform is enacted? And that the only way to stop unauthorized immigration is to allow nonviolent working immigrants to come legally? That is, ALL of them – that is, removing numerical limits? Which economists like Nowrasteh and Bier say would bless our economy? And that the “political reality” enshrouding the 8 is colliding with real Reality, and ultimately Reality always wins? Do you think the 8 understand this? Is there a way to inform them?
