#DREAMers Respond to DHS Release of Deferred Action Guidelines

***Press Conference Tuesday, 11 AM EST***

United We Dream released the following statement responding to today’s DHS announcement of Deferred Action guidelines:

“After years of organizing for DREAMer relief,  hundreds of thousands of aspiring Americans are on the verge of being able to take an important step to own their American dream.   It is a victory for all of us DREAMers and the families and communities around us who fought so hard.

“We are glad that the Department of Homeland Security has met this important milestone today to provide clarity around some key aspects of the process, and  is committed to allowing DREAMers to request work permits and relief from deportation in the timeframe announced by President Obama in June.  We will closely examine the details of this newly-released plan, and continue developing a nationwide initiative to assist aspiring Americans in capitalizing on this historic opportunity.

“Together with allies and partners across the country, we will announce details of the “Own the DREAM/¡Unete al Sueño!” campaign , on Tuesday, August 7, at 11:00 AM. Thank you.”
